We live in challenging times. That's why I'm so excited. You see challenges spark opportunities.
On December 10th, ASBA shared with its members and the community:
“ASBA, the Arizona Small Business Association, today announced the departure of Chief Executive Officer Joan Koerber-Walker at the end of 2008 per the expiration of her contractual agreement. ASBA's Executive Committee is working expeditiously to conduct a formal CEO search within ASBA spheres of influence to find the right person to assume the Executive leadership position, while Koerber-Walker will focus on new opportunities in 2009 including a more active role at Ribomed Biotechnologies, Inc. where she has served on the board of directors since 2007.” (You can access the full release from the page list here on the blog.)
Ribomed Biotechnologies, Inc. is one of several opportunities I am working on for 2009. Imagine a world where we could detect and treat cancers before a tumor ever formed or our loved ones were harmed. THAT is what Ribomed is working to help create. (www.ribomed.com) Talk about a challenge and an opportunity!
OTEF, The Opportunity Through Entrepreneurship Foundation, just completed a fabulous third Arizona Entrepreneurship Conference in November, 2008. Now the real work starts as we use the proceeds from the conference to fan the spark of entrepreneurship in at-risk populations and support them on their journey. As chairman of the OTEF board, you can bet I will be involved with Francine Hardaway and our fabulous team. Check out the links at www.otef.org and www.azentrepreneurship.com.
CorePurpose, Inc. - the company I founded in 2002 - got its start in times very much like these. The reasons may have been different - but the fall out looks familiar. The time has come again to get folks focused back on their CorePurpose - and the things we can all do to get moving things forward again. (www.CorePurpose.com)
And that is just a start...stay tuned for other exciting opportunities as they develop.
